BB pal Tim Walker from The Ministry of Unkown Science and the Grilled Cheese Invitational shares a cool election-themed music remix with us: One of our brethern of the MOUS, Tano Sokolow, did an amazing remix/mash-up of Barack Obama's Yes We Can with Lee Dorsey's Yes We Can Can song. It's totally fucking amazing and brings tears to my jaded eyes! Listen for yourself and see! Direct MP3 Link, web page with the music all up in it. Tano Sokolow, who brewed up the remix, says: Start your election night victory party off right with this track I put together. The original artist is Lee Dorsey, and I encourage you to go buy his music, it's wonderful stuff. The track Yes We Can was written by Alain Toussaint....

Dremel Multi-Max vs Bosch PS50 Multi-X â?? Part 2

We previously reviewed these two tools and even did some comparisons in a YouTube video. My initial though was that they would probably sell pretty evenly as each tool has its advantages. So far however the Dremel has proven to be the favorite of the two selling out almost as quick as they are coming in. The accessories have also been hard to keep in stock. This will be one of the hottest guy gifts for the 2008 holiday season, no question.

The Dremel Multi-Max 6300-01 is the cheaper of the two by almost half at $99. I think that might be the ideal price for most people to make an impulse purchase even if they know little about these oscillating tools.

The Bosch PS50 Multi-X to be fair has only released the less popular PS50-2A ($179) model and not the PS50-2B ($199) which has several more blades included. The price is higher obviously but the tool is cordless which make it much more convenient to use. On paper the PS50 is less powerful but in use these two tools seem very similar in performance, I could not really tell any difference when cutting wood or sanding. The battery life is good but could be a problem for some applications such as continuous use when sanding or grout removal.

Verdict: personally I like the PS50-2B the best however that is probably because I like the oscillating tools for their amazing cutting abilities. I have a several sanding tools already that will do a similar job but nothing that can make cuts like this. For detailed cutting jobs the cordless feature is huge, going up on a ladder and make a precision cut on crown molding I don’t want to worry about a cord in the way. If you are getting a tool to do a lot of grout removal however the Dremel Multi-Max may be the way to go. Battery life on the Bosch PS50 will last an hour or more when making occasional cuts but for grout removal you are looking at about 10 minutes of continuous use for that battery draining application. The 12V Max kits PS51-2A (Pocket Driver & Multi-X) and PS52-2A (Impactor & Multi-X) both include 4 batteries so there is little chance you will run out of power for any job but there will be some battery changing.

Obviously all the tools, kits and accessories are available at Ohio Power Tool and currently in-stock unless otherwise noted as a “PRE-SALE”. These are all selling quickly so get your orders in now. Who knows what is going to happen after Black Friday/Cyber Monday but some of these tools may selling out and go on back order until after the Holiday Season.

Not Your Everyday Bathroom Renovation

You can't fault artist Christoph Niemann for not being bold. Together with his wife, Lisa, Niemann attempted to recreate a pixilated version of a great work of art in his bathroom using four-by-four-inch tile. Read about his selection process and see the final result on his blog. Personally, I liked his kids' bathroom better where the bathroom tile was laid out to recreate the Berlin subway map.

Artist Kevin Cyr is building a pop-up camper atop a shopping cart. This is a follow-up to his Camper Bike, a 3-wheeler bicycle with a truck camper on the back. Cyr is looking for donations to help complete the Camper Kart. Cyr writes: It's a functioning sculptural piece that seeks to explore aspects of housing, mobility, and autonomy. It is also largely about self-reliance and making due with less. I have always been interested in bikes and vehicles and for many years they have been the subject of my paintings. My paintings document odd and derelict vehicles: old delivery trucks inundated with graffiti and rust, well-traveled RVs, Indian rickshaws and Asian bikes. Throughout the last year, I decided to build my own type of vehicles. On a trip to Beijing, I conceived and built a CAMPER BIKE: an amalgamation of a Chinese 3-wheeled flatbed bike with an American cabover style camper. Interested in building a series of mobile vehicles and inspired by Cormac McCarthy's novel, The Road, I started sketching plans for CAMPER KART: a mobile unit built into a shopping cart--an ubiquitous urban object. Camper Kart (Kickstarter) "Kevin Cyr's Camper kart" (Hi-Fructose)...

Doug says: Ji Lee is the founder of the reknowned 'Bubble Project', which started 6 years ago. Borne from frustration at corporate advertising agencies, Lee printed and applied 50,000 renegade speech bubbles to street advertisements in New York and other cities around the world. Passersby would then fill the bubbles with musings and Lee would photograph the results and post them on the Bubble Project website. Presently, working as a creative director at Google Creative Lab, Lee's job is to promote many Google products and Google brand to the world. Lee continues to work as an independent artist, designer, illustrator and teacher. Lee likes to maintain the delicate balance between professional and personal projects, which he believes compliment each other. Small Talk No. 1: Ji Lee Thursday 24 September 2009 6:30–8:00PM Bumble and Bumble, 3rd floor auditorium 415 West 13th Street, New York, NY....
