An anonymous tipster over at Nikon Rumors reports this weekend that the pro-level Nikon D3 will be on the receiving end of a refresh on or around October 15. Topping the list of expected features...

Over the last few weeks Google has apparently started rolling out a new set of advertising formats on its search results page, introducing product listings that include price and other details in the Sponsored Links sidebar. For example, a query for "shoes" is displaying a list of different shoe models, their prices, and retailers directly within the search results, as opposed to the the more general text links we've grown accustomed to, which lack such information. Google is also apparently testing these ads with photos alongside the product listings for some queries. Our tipster says that he's only seeing the new ads in the developer version of Chrome, but I'm seeing them as well in Safari, though some TechCrunch staff aren't seeing them in any browser. Google is always switching up ad placement and formats in various bucket tests, some of which are browser-specific, so the inconsistency isn't surprising.

The anonymous tipster, whom many people initially assumed had "hacked" into the computers at the Climatic Research Unit (CRU) of the University of East Anglia (repeatedly called the "Hadley Centre" by mistake), was probably an insider, seeking to expose certain sharp practices and unscientific methods of his bosses.

"Scribd doing 43M revenue this year??" was the subject line of an email sent to me last week, along with a link to this photo, taken in
Scribd's San Francisco offices, showing a list of "important stuff" on a whiteboard. Our tipster must not have read the whole list, though, because I was immediately suspicious. The items on the list, as best I can read them:
Important Stuff
- 2009 revenue: $43 million
- From store: $39 million, revenue/doc: $11.77
- Docs uploaded per day: 1.95 million
- Killer feature of 2010: include video in documents
- Don't forget to sign acquisition deal with ebay next week
- Call back Arnold Schwarzenegger
- Install waterslide in office

We'd already had a
pretty good indication that the
Motorola Charm was headed to T-Mobile, but it looks like most doubt has now been put to rest --
TmoNews has what appears to be the first shot of the phone in the wild, and evidence that materials (with the name "Project Basil') are already arriving at T-Mobile stores. Unfortunately, there's not much new information otherwise, but the site's tipster has apparently confirmed that the phone does indeed have a
Backflip-like touchpad on the rear and that the screen is around 3-inches. Still no word on an exact release date, but
TmoNews says it should be rolling out by the end of the month.
Motorola Charm spotted in the wild, said to be hitting T-Mobile later this month originally appeared on Engadget on Tue, 06 Jul 2010 19:37:00 EDT. Please see our terms for use of feeds.
